Springtime Selling

A lot of people move during the summer when kids are out of school and the new fiscal year causes budget cuts or new positions. You may be tempted to think this is the easy time to sell and you can get away with putting in minimal effort. Well sure, your home may sell… but are you making as much money as you could?

Remember that many people have just spent the last few months inside. They’re excited for light, the beauty of nature, and some spring cleaning. What if you can present to them a home where the spring cleaning has already been done? Your home will be that much more irresistible, and it’ll reflect in what a buyer is willing to pay - if you do a few simple things.

1.) Power wash your driveway. A handsome face can be ruined by a stained shirt.

2.) Harness nature. Things are growing and blooming again - take advantage of that! Plant some bright, seasonal flowers. These should be inside and outside. At the same time, don’t let nature look overgrown and messy. Kill the weeds growing up through the cracks, get rid of the dead leaves and anything left over from winter, and clear the path to the entrance. Your front door should look beautiful - if it doesn’t, it’s not ready.

3.) Let the light in. Trim any bushes and trees outside of your windows. Dust off the blinds and open the curtains. Clean the windows both inside and out. Remember, warm and cozy is fine, especially during fall and winter - but in spring and summer, your home should feel light, bright, and spacious.

4.) Clean brings the green. Declutter the counters, get extra junk out of the closets, and polish the floors with something citrusy. Highlight how much space your home really has! If it feels like the spring cleaning has already been done, this will make buyers want to make to make your home their home even more.

5.) Sweat relief. Get that A/C cranking. Provide chilled water infused with some fruit. The refreshing feeling coming in from the heat is what you want the buyers to associate with your house. They’ll be chasing that feeling when deciding how much to offer.

We believe if you follow these simple steps, the offers will come in faster - and higher.
